Preach Beach

There are lots of biblical references to sand, the sun, the sea… But generally beachliness isn’t directly associated with godliness.
In Sardinia, that’s changing.
The Catholic church, which has always prided itself on its marketing skills, is taking their priests to the beach with 100-foot inflatable churches to accommodate tourists and travelers who might not otherwise gouge out time in their leisurely vacation schedule for rosary counting.
These beach convents aren’t quite equipped for mass, and are unfortunately susceptible to high winds on the coast, but they do offer the opportunities for prayer and confession between turns of tanning. It’s actually not a terrible idea. If the communion wine were communion sangria, they might really have something here.

What’s it been since the Catholic Church had a new idea of any sort and this is actually a good one!
Thank God for the Catholic church. All of this time, whenever I was on a beach, I always wished that I had some sort of structure sanctified by the Church that would allow me to pray to God. Because one can’t possibly do that on one’s towel, outside, amidst Creation. Much more preferable to be within a “church”. Especially if I can bounce in during low tide to confess.
