opportunities to communities in central Mexico. Many of the men and women in these communities migrate to the United
States to support their loved ones. Migration is an emotional challenge
that separates families and threatens lives. Nearly all of those who
migrate dream to one day be able to return home permanently. It is too bad that American policy generally ignores this fact and chooses to spend money on fences and border patrol. Here is an idea (not a new one but one that deserves reiteration): to augment amnesty programs, we invest in small non-profits such as the Fundacion Comunitaria del Bajio to improve the lives of potential immigrants so that they will not be forced to make the dangerous trip north to support their families. Anyone with ideas on how my organization and I can find funds to support our cause or anyone who just would like to find out more about what we do, please email me at dustinking82@gmail.com.
