The documentary focuses on the legal gray area of remixing existing works under a provision of copyright called fair use, which allows for journalistic, parody, and other critical uses. The topic of fair use is important, because media conglomerates such as Disney and Warner-Brothers hold extended copyrights on universal icons such as Mickey Mouse.
