No matter where you come down on the file sharing debate (from Shawn Fanning to Lars Ulrich), you can't help but think this is getting a little absurd. First we're suing grandmothers without computers, and now we're telling people that maybe it might be worth more to them to drop out of one of the world's most prestigious universities in order to pay their "settlement." What we don't understand is: if these people are stealing music, why do they have to pay? Why can't they just go before a judge and opt to take the penalty associated with stealing however much music they have. The $30 dollar theft of a few albums over LimeWire wouldn't net you much jail time, would it?
