To all of you who are removing employee's from the company's ranks.

The wording RIF and ROF keep you from further cost and time.  How?
When an employee is RIF / ROF  that's it.  They go to the State Labor Department and file for unemployment.  When you choose other words they then can cause you to defend them in hearings and appeals.   This could even get you into a Civil Court to defend the words you choose.  Now you don't get any of the unemployment fees you paid back so either the State or the employee will get the money.  If your business is in trouble and money is at the root of it then RIF / ROF your employee.  I have taken many company's to the Labor Board over the years.  That has everything to do with me being in Construction.  It's a rough world and Supervisors take out their feelings on you.  It cause several weeks delay in getting unemployment.  They have their fun then.  I return the favor when I appeal and they have to prove their claim.  Oh the things that you can do to them in that setting.  It's like  a Court Room and what you say can be held against you.  I've never lost an appeal hearing but several supervisors have lost their jobs after the hearings.  They were not telling the truth so they were fired for cause and they then could not get unemployment.  A JUST PENALITY FOR BEING UNTRUTHFUL.
