We've told you before about the American Express Red Card, a card which, instead of giving you frequent flier miles, transfers 1.25% of your spending to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria. And while this is exactly what happens when you use the card, there is some corporate trickery. American Express stands to make more money per transaction than they would from an average card. And you, the consumer, who would get a tax deduction if you just wrote a check to the global fund, you get nothing. Jerks.
