The urban farm in South Central, the largest urban farm in America, is no more. Despite raising millions of dollars, the farmers and activists couldn't quite raise enough money to persuade the owner not to take the much more lucrative option of flipping the land for three or four times the buying price. Though he seems like a jerk for destroying the farm, the owner, Ralph Horowitz, makes the semi-cogent point that the farmers have been on the land for free for 15 years. That's pretty good for expensive land in the middle of the city that you haven't paid for. Still, it's a shame that it's gone.
