Knee-jerk reaction to suburban sprawl has been the standard for decades. But, in the American Prospect (the awesomely titled "Attack of the Snobs" issue), Robert Bruegmann argues that maybe we've misjudged this whole sprawl thing for a long time. Really, it's just rich people who can afford to live anywhere, who hate the sprawl. For many people, suburban sprawl is a necessity. And, eventually, the sprawl settles into new living patterns that we will come to appreciate as we become less snobbish. It's an interesting theory, at least.
