Are we to take the author of this piece seriously?  Is this humor?
If this parent is for real, then she should also take into consideration that in the event her child has math difficulties, simply address this by a very good calculator; if the child doesn't enjoy reading books -get the notes, get the video; in the event the child has difficulties in learning to tell time, get all diigtal pieces.  Need I go on?
The youth of our country are being drug into high-tech 3'rd world robot status.  Parents have lost the art /science of raising children.  The misguided parental protective instincts have assumed the perception of my child will have their way - the most comfortable, conveinent, readily achieved path for them.
Everyone needs to read (reread) The Lord of the Flies.  Adults lead children, not follow them.  Parents that have lost sight of reality, raise children with no sense of reality.
