stroke of genius
Hi,
Just wanted to see if anyone might be interested in this project...
My friend, famous advertising creative director, Dan Mountain, suffered a cataclysmic stroke that left him in a coma. His doctors have him a "zero chance of meaningful survival." After 21 days, they finally convinced his wife to pull life support...that's when he woke up.
Not only did he wake up, but he brought back a considerable enlightenment from the other side. He wrote poems that I put to music and recorded with help from such luminaries as Art Garfunkel, John Sebastian, Steve Gadd, and the Dixie Hummingbirds.
The National Stroke Association and the National Aphasia Association partnered with us. And we went on to create a 51 minute non-fiction film. Directed by Iranian/American film maker, Bahman Soltani.
I've since performed the music at the Sundance Film Festival. The film has been in festivals and won a few awards. And we're beginning to tour with an entertainment that includes live music and a screening of the film. We're talking with hospitals, rehabilitation centers and art cinemas.
The next screening will be at the Jacob Burn Film Center in Pleasantville, NY on January 3rd.
You can find more info, view a trailer and hear some of the music off my website...marcblack.com (and click on the 'STROKE OF GENIUS' tab on the top).
Thanks for your consideration and Happy New Year.
Cheers,
Marc
