Take a Real Lunch Break for Pete's Sake

The writer and business-management theorist Tony Schwartz has a new campaign going to get people to reclaim their lunch breaks. For Schwartz, this whole business of the 15-minute lunch-at-desk is ridiculous. Starting on June 23 he wants us all to take a full, hour-long, out-of-the-office lunch break every Wednesday. Here's the video:

Of course, if you work at Cravath or some other corporate law firm you have to account for your time in six-minute chunks anyway, so taking a long lunch only wastes your family time (though if you're a high-powered corporate lawyer, "family time" is probably a scotch with a high-class escort anyway).

At any rate, I'm taking a full lunch next Wednesday. There's more about the campaign at The Take Back Your Lunch site.
