Thanksgiving On Skid Row

  • Posted by: Andrew Price
  • on November 27, 2007 at 3:39 am

L.A.’s skid row is still rough. This Thanksgiving things got better though, if only for a little while, when Kirk Douglas, Harrison Ford, Mayor Villaraigosa and some other famous/powerful people dropped by the neighborhood to serve meals to its residents. It’s easy to call this kind of thing a patronizing token gesture. We’re not going to. With less than 30% of Californians volunteering at all, we applaud Harrison and co.

Kirk Douglas also had this to say: “Their involvement will help their souls as much as it helps the guests being served…” Feeding the homeless and helping celebrity souls: a win-win.
