The Pentagon will now allow military personnel to access all kinds of social media. MySpace, Facebook, Twitter - you name it, they can use it as long as security precautions are taken.

We've seen the security-breach side of this (see: Rep. Hoekstra's slip up). But I'm interested in what ways social media could help the military. Maybe a tweet in and of itself won't do much good. But Slate outlined the way that social network theory, at least, played a role in Saddam's capture.
