The Bush Who Cried Wolf

In this morning’s media address, President Bush declared with certainty that (some unknown quotient of) Iran has been supplying weapons to Iraqi insurgents. To be sure, that idea is utterly terrifying. One might say that it imbues us with a sense of terror. Then again, we’ve been told things “with certainty” before. So it’s downright painful to watch something like this and feel uncertain about whether you’re being lied to afterward. What a tangled web, you know?
