This Is Why We Don’t Say Global Warming…

  • Posted by: Morgan Clendaniel

Because it’s Frickin’ Cold. Or, What To Tell Your Crazy Uncle When He Says: “Guess This Cold Means Global Warming Isn’t Happening.”

Here at GOOD, we make a special effort to never refer to the horrible things happening to our climate as “global warming.” This is because what we used to call “global warming” doesn’t just mean the globe is warming up, though those few naysayers out there (we’re looking at you, Matt Drudge) always get to crow to themselves when it is in fact colder than it’s supposed to be. But that’s the same thing. (Here is how cold it is now, but you really shouldn’t be thinking about wind chill, though that’s a different story.)

For the younger people out there, we used to have things called seasons. In the winter, it was cold and it snowed, and it was cold every day. In the summer, it was warm, and it was warm every day. We called these predictable weather patterns the “climate.” It was things like this that allowed farmers to predict when to plant their crops, and other old timey things like that. What is happening now, due to all the carbon in the atmosphere, is that weather patterns are becoming crazy and unpredictable. In the summer, this may manifest itself by excessive heat, but apparently in the winter this means that some days you will be able to wear a T-shirt in December in New England (this is disturbing in and of itself) and then just the next day, a massive ice storm will leave you and 200,000 of your neighbors without power. I’m no meteorologist—and the weather is always unpredictable, sure—but give me a break. Back in the old days, it was cold when it was supposed to be cold, and warm when it was supposed to be warm, and men were men, and so on. Also, please refer to the horrible Jake Gyllenhaal vehicle in which global warming causes most of the planet to be freezing cold and wolves to come into New York City and eat people until Dennis Quaid saves you. That was “global warming,” too.

So, ditch the “global warming.” Here’s the bottom line: Parts are warming up, parts are cooling down, but neither is doing what it’s supposed to do on any given day, and that is dangerous. We’re calling it climate change now, because the climate is out of control.

While “climate change” is a much more accurate description of recent climate events, this term does not carry a strong enough connotation to both educate citizens and, more importantly, rouse them to action.

just call it “environmental changes that threaten Budweiser beer distribution”, then maybe those who still refuse to see the evidence will take notice.

I wish the citizens did not need to be “roused to action”. If that is what it takes, than consider myself and everyone here “rousers” but I hope our world can learn to rouse ourselves and unify “already roused.” I hope that made sense.

Global Warming is something that the executives of car companies invented in order to sell more cars. Is just like the ozone layer. In early 90´s the media started to bomb us with the thing of the hole. Nowadays the “experts” say that the hole is closing. And I am asking to myself… in only 10 years?

I think that the correct terminology should be Global Climate Warfare. That way people will understand that there is an ongoing struggle to keep our actions from raging an unjust war on the planet. …or something along those lines.

some CU-Boulder arctic researchers and Hunter Lovins have taken to calling it “global weirding.”

I was born in the dust bowl, 1931. It ended in 1936 with worst winter in my life. Below 0 for six weeks and huge amounts  of snow. Global warming is total B.S.!! A means for idot pols to “create a purpose” for their trivial lives!!

Next year if the temps are all exactly average, they’ll call it “Global Norming” and blame the carbon for the unusual averageness…

Carbon is good, because it cools down the planet.  Carbon helps plants to grow

Carbon is good.  Carbon cools the planet and help the plants grow bigger.  That is Science.  Man made Global warming is fiction.  It is also a dangerous theory.  Because the elites of this world will want to tax us for living, tax us until we are their servants and they are our masters.  Caveat emptor before you buy into the myth of man made global warming.

Carbon is fine if the earth’s release is balanced with its intake.  It currently is not — we have a huge excess in the atmosphere.  This amount is incrementing constantly.Since we have increased our output of greenhouse gases, a large portion of which remains unabsorbed, we are furthering the unpredictability and variability of our climate.  This can have an affect on sea levels, disease carriers, and weather patterns; food production, disease prevention, physical destruction, and ecosystem balance are all areas of possible uncertainty and volatility.Very few ‘elites’ would have anything to gain by disseminating ‘global warming’.  No one is really incentivized to do this.  However, a number of massively profitable industries rely on environmentally hurtful practices, and so are incentivized to discourage sustainable progress.Attempting to characterize the state of the climate as ‘another ozone event’ is purely inductive thinking and is irresponsible.

True carbon does help plants grow, the problem is the amount. We continue to destroy plants, trees, and forests but we are putting more carbon in the air. We don’t breath carbon, plants do. With fewer plants, there is more carbon. Do the math. When there is an overabundant amount of carbon, the heat is trapped. This causes global warming. Wake up people!!!!. Saying there is no global warming going on is just sticking your head in the sand. This will not solve anything. Pay attention to the science.

What’s the obvious outcome of carbon lifeforms banning carbon? In the end, the sun will win out over all the psuedo science Al Gore can dream up. And right now, global cooling is grabbing hold of our solar system because the sun broke down for reasons no one understands.

    Cheers.

Hey Kevincoby, what action are we to do? If You want to educate , try first with yourself. The source of the earths temp. as always is the sun. the sun is not on a thermostat, and look up sun spot activity, you will see that activity leads all temp variations

“Global Warming” or “Climate Change”, call it whatever you want, it is all a ploy for political power.

    • Posted by: Anonymous
    • on February 19, 2009 at 4:39 am

And how exactly is it a “political ploy for power?”I haven’t heard any of our law/policy-makers make decisions regarding economy or national security or terrorism based on climate change, whether it be against or for global warming. Never has any politician in office ran a successful campaign tethered on the subject either, as far as I know. Unless you’re saying that there is an insidious plan hatched by  Al Gore & Co. to take over the world via a Global Warming campaign. Is it? Also, the whole hoopla over global warming is a discussion regarding the entire planet, spanning continents and nations, not just the American political spectrum.

Global warming is just a ploy by the liberals trying to give money to poor nations. Think about it the large nations are the producres of the “carbon footprint’s” and the samller nations dont produce anything. The larger nations are forced to buy the crabon credits from the smaller nations. so what does that solve with global warming? Nothing and with the economy the way it is we dont have the money to give. Most of the countries in the world dont even agree with it even the top “carbon producing” country in the world China does not agree. If you dont agree with that then what caused the first ice age or the first warming? The dino cars? What about the second one?

People who dont believe in Global Warning are Backward thinkers = Carbon + more Carbon = Good? Oh yea – throw in a few stupid comments like – its cold outside so Global Warming is Bullshit or I’ve been watching the weather for years and its still cold how can the world be getting warmer or lets make this a political ploy discussion -> Stupid idiots. Go live on Mars.People who belive the Earth is heading for trouble are Forward thinkers = Carbon + Oxygen + Preservation + Do something about it. Look through the political bullshit and see real facts. Greenland is melting, storms are their use to be none – remember Huricane Katirna anyone ?! Stop making it a people, small counry issue discussion. Go on a trip and see the damage and then come back and make backward statements.

You right wing hicks have no idea what you are talking about. And the guy that said he was born in the dust bowl is a total bullshit, he sounds like a stupid kid. Maybe if some of you take some courses on weather you can understand this situation better.

Forget the global warming charade. Look up and read about how our polar magnetic feilds are ’swicthing’. This is and is going to continue to have profound effect on our Earth. As far as pollution. Duh, it’s bad for our health period. That should be enough to motivate folks to reduce emissions, over consumption etc….. Carbon offsets. That just means Gore and his buds get to park the pollution in your backyard instead of theirs. The USA has actually decresed our carbon footprint over the past 10 years. Europe has enlarged theirs with all their tinkering. and the asian probalem. Well we all know how disgusting their emvironment has become.

All of you people who debunk global warming are just part of the majority of lazy ass Americans who don’t even want to think about such things, it hurts your brains. all you want to do is continue buying your souped up cars and your Hemi Ford F250s, sit on your fat asses watching TV all day, you’re to laxzy to get up and turn off that switch, or too lazy to take the time to actually throw that plastic bottle in a recycling bin and rather throw it out the window into the woods. I challenge anyone to go out side and see if they can walk just three feet woithout seeing some small bit of trash or cigarette butt or oil stain or plastic. Dumb asses.

Isn’t it a convenient “disaster”? When nature doesn’t conform to our “label” (Global Warming) and our “so called” computor models . We simply change the name to “climate change”. The science and the facts are not “settled”. Anyone with a brain and willing to do the research can find the truth. By the way, I am a scientist and me and thousands of other scientists are screaming as loud as we can that the the science on “climate change” is at best niave and at worst a total fabrication. If you really want the truth then do the research, or is it more “convenient” to just accept what the herd is saying? Only one fact should be enough to persuade you that there may be more to the story: 85% of all thermometers that the NOAA and other weather scientist use to document weather patterns, do not meet the installation standards required. This is not a deliberate conspiracy, it is a practical fact of making the best of a bad situation. A lot of the thermometers are on government property, Fed, State, Local. The rules say that they cannot be installed on buildings but a full 25% are not only installed on buildings but are also in direct sunlight most of the day. This happened because this was the only practical place to put the temperature guage. The problem, of course, was that the installer never dreamed that the acquired data would be used to “verify” “climate change”.  That person probably figured that although it wasn’t a perfect installtion, some imperfect data was better than no data at all and after all their are other stations and we are just looking for an average. But think about it, if 85% are not properly installed, then 85% of your data is flawed, and by the way, 85% of the data that goes into these “climate models” is flawed. Are you starting to see the problem? Think about this one: we have only about 100 years worth of reasonably accurate temperature data and trying to predict “climate change” from that is like predicting a man’s entire life from 1 second of his life.

If you believe in global warming than look where al gore has his income coming from. Just take a quick peek at google. We call that conflict of interest. Making money from average american’s while hes lying through his teeth. What a sham.
