In case you didn't already hear, TimesSelect, The New York Times' floundering, subscription-supported online op-ed and archive service, is about become defunct. It remains to be seen when the service will actually be taken down, but its end signifies a sense of triumph for those who champion the idea of ad-supported online content that's free to anyone with an internet connection. Soon you'll be able to read your precious Maureen Dowd without the intervention of that pesky, money-grubbing, orange T.
