We post lots of lists of the most sustainable companies, or the companies that use the most green energy, or the companies that give their employees the most hugs. But how about the the bad companies. They lurk in the back of your mind, but can you quantify them? This list of the companies that pollute the most should help. The worst offender: Du Pont (full name, the suspiciously French sounding E.I. Du Pont de Nemours & Co.). Though it doesn't release the most toxins into the air, when you plug Du Pont's toxins into the handy equation of (pounds of toxins X toxicity X population exposure), they really trounce the competition. To the good folks at United States Steel Corp.: second place is just first loser. Let's try to grab that brass ring for 2007. Here's the full list.
