I had a conversation today with www.gerryhassan.com about he might conduct a local survey about how people understand the future and their relationship.  This is intended as a multi-dimensional question (1) people's cognitive understanding of what the future will be like ("will there be jetpacks?"; (2) people's psychological orientation towards the future ("will life be better with jetpacks?"; and (3) how will we get to the future ("how will we get the jetpacks?").

Perhaps the third question, which raises the idea of agency and the degree to which people feel they have a stake in creating the future, is the most interesting.

Anyway, we wondered if people had examples of similar survey work (quantative or qualitative) having been done in their locale, that we in Scotland might tap into.

Any thoughts or contributions gratefully received...
