Today, the Senate renewed the Voting Rights Act, a monumental piece of civil rights legislation. It was sort of a symbolic, "I'm not racist vote," which resulted in 98 senators supporting the bill. Apparently, if you're a senator from Idaho or Wyoming, it's not really worth your time to show up for a senate vote to shore up African-American support in your state.
