GOOD
Letter To The Editor
Dear GOOD,
I received my first issue. I was excited until I read your lengthy article on the Right Wing shill Ward Connerly.
I'm 56 years old, disabled, white and finished two years of college. I've worked, luckily, in well paying union jobs all my life. I've seen the middle class disassembled by the right wing noise machine since the presidency of Ronald Reagan. I saw good jobs ruined by the greed of big business. I've seen this country sold out by greedy businessmen that put people last and profit margins first. I saw what this country was like before affirmative action. I saw the riots of 1968. I've worked in the ghetto. I've worked in the elite wealthy areas. People like Ward Connerly disgust me.
Ward got his education because people underneath him bled and died to get him in the position he occupies now. This blood was his affirmative action. Now, he's well fed, well paid, and held up by his right wing moneymen as a savior of education. His ego tells him he did this on his own. It was his drive and superior intelligence that got him were he's at. Nothing could be further from the truth. When Ward gets his way, society will be successfully turned back the clock to the feudal ages his mentors desire.
You say you are a magazine of GOOD. How can you be good when you give a forum to an agent of destruction?
The intellectual dishonesty of the merits of Mr. Connerly's proposals are never seriously questioned because the writer has no sense of the history that made affirmative action necessary. Next time get a writer that has a grasp of the issues.
Sincerely,
A Union Goon
