I believe firmly that many of the problems in America come from the fact that we keep throwing out the baby with the bathwater in our elections & don't have a cohesive policy to count on when the going gets tough.
It seems to me that with Hillary as President and Barack as vice-president we would have had a chance to draw upon the expertise of Bill as well - even if he would have looked wierd in the First Lady's designer ballgown at the Inaugural Ball.
Just before Hillary dropped out, I had a very long conversation with a High School student who was campaining for Obama. He told me all about Hillary Clinton's "record" on Health Care from his "studies" about those days. Evidently, history has been rewritten once more because I WAS THERE THEN and I know what actually took place...
Quite frankly, I am tired of Hawks AND Doves - people who brand others with labels (or Liberal v Conservative) are bird-brained themselves.
All of us have mixed emotions about almost every issue - if we take the time & trouble to honestly think about things from a middle perspective. What is the "right thing" for YOU may be the "wrong thing" for ME but we both have the choice which free-will gives to mankind. I will defend Your Right to choose with my whole being BUT I do expect You to reciprocate by defending My Right also.
A little recognized fact - the United States Constitution was originally designed to elect a president & vice-president in the same vote. The man with the most votes became President and the runner-up became the Vice President.
They didn't get to choose a "running mate" the Electoral College did it for them. That way, more than one party had a say in what happened within the Executive Branch of our government.
Actually, we taught Germany to hire their leaders based on merit not on popularity.
I hate it that our City-County Manager is voted for rather than chosen by a panel of elected representatives.
We have had some real "dogs" minding the store in the 25 years I've lived here...
