Will Clinton, Please Leave the Building?

The apparently erroneous report from AP this morning about Clinton finally dropping from the primary this evening was a nice bit of wishful thinking. As reported now in the New York Times, the Clinton campaign workers have been busy trying to get the word out that this was not their intention.
I, for one, was one of the skeptics, knowing that it was highly unlikely that Clinton would give up before the primary. Staying in at this point is what her people apparently think is her only chance at getting the nod from Obama for the VP spot. But I am sincerely questioning this logic. Why would they think that remaining a general annoyance to his campaign would increase her value as a VP candidate?
As a feminist, I’ve been regularly accused of being a traitor to the cause, but I still stand by my contention that there is no point to backing a candidate, regardless of gender, who fails to admit when a race is lost. The time to leave with poise and some semblance of dignity has long passed – perhaps a month or two ago would have been more appropriate. At this point Clinton is rightfully being accused of attempting to take the entire party down with her.
As for her VP hopes, as of now, it looks like the only part of her “package” Obama is interested in acquiring is her fund-raising team. From the look of things now, that seems to be the most valuable portion of the Clinton camp.
