The flag-burning amendment, soon to be debated in the Senate, has become the it-thing to opine upon on the internet in the last few hours. Like most people, we feel like it's pretty silly and a waste of time and money. That's not even getting into the that whole tricky First Amendment thing. Here's the interesting part: the Senate is just one vote shy of passing the amendment and sending it to the states. Who is that one vote? Majority Whip Mitch McConnell, who deserves some sort of medal for standing up for what he believes, in spite of the fact that he is the number 2 Republican in the Senate. Way to go, Mitch.
