13-Year-Old Kenyan Boy Invents Solution to Save Livestock (and Lions)

Richard Turere was actually only 12 years old when he designed his own solution to a local problem: lions killing livestock. He was responsible for herding his family's cows, and also liked building electronics. By designing a light that automatically flashed at random times through the night, he was able to scare lions away—saving cows, but also indirectly helping save lions, who are often shot in retaliation.
