Sarita Wagh is a 20-year-old who advocates against child marriage in India. Sarita's parents were educated and unlike her friends, she wasn't married at age 14. Together with young girls in her village, Sarita founded Shanti Kishori Mandal, a group of 12 to 13 girls who pledged not to marry early. 50 villages in Sarita's Aurangabad district were influenced by this movement and pledged not to marry off girls before age 18. Within two years, child marriage dropped from 82 percent to 62 percent.
