Afghan Women Find Peace Through Writing

The Afghan Women’s Writing Project was founded in 2009 by an American journalist who wanted to create a virtual safe space for women to express their ideas. Afghan women contribute their personal stories, fiction and poetry for publication on the site. Currently, around 100 users contribute regularly, ages 14 to 45. The program's success led to a new physical space in Kabul for women to gather and write.
