African women work to reverse stigmas about their continent
"We've inverted the whole paradigm," Ethiopian entrepreneur Bethlehem Tilahun says of her nationally known shoe business SoleRebels. "We've basically taken back control of our destiny by controlling the marketing message." Because of Tilahun's success, she was named one of "100 Women to Watch in 2012" by Forbes magazine. Other women have also significantly contributed to Africa's growing economic success; according to the World Bank, the rate of female entrepreneurship is highest in Africa.
