After 300-Letter Correspondence, an Artist Plans a House for a Man in Solitary Confinement

Over the course of five years, artist and activist Jackie Sumell corresponded with Herman Wallace, a man who had been living in solitary confinement at the Angola State Penitentiary in Louisiana for over three decades. He was convicted for murdering a prison guard – but his conviction was based on false testimony.

Now, Jackie is teaming up with the Maison Orion design studio to design the house that Herman described over the course of all these letters, along with a story about human rights.
