Are TOMS really helping African children?

TOMS has a very philanthropic image and motto: 'one for one'. But is this solving any problems in Africa? What Africa needs is an improved economy, with local economic stimulation. TOMS could be sourcing the production of their shoes in Africa, promoting economic development, but instead their sourcing their shoes from cheap factories in China. Having shoes isn't the problem in Africa. It's poverty. Provide jobs, not shoes. Create jobs, and parents can buy their own children their shows.
