Austin's proposed planned community for the homeless will feature homes, garden, drive-in and Airstream motel
In order to get a handle on Austin's growing homelessness issue, Mobile Loaves and Fishes is proposing something unique. The Community First Village, backed by Austin luminaries such as mayor Lee Leffingwell and Tim League of the Alamo Drafthouse, will feature RV and wooden cabin homes for the homeless. The community will also offer a garden, drive-in movie theater, Airstream motel and job opportunities for the tenants. The project has yet to be approved, but social media buzz seems positive.
