Russian parliament recently enacted extreme “anti-LGBT” laws which have secretly provided the government, police and vigilante groups unrestricted power to discriminate, terrorize and torture it’s LGBT citizens. Instances include right-wing Nazi groups targeting, kidnapping, and in some cases killing homosexuals. These actions are a gross violation of human rights. The winter 2014 Olympic Games are scheduled to take place in Russia. According to Olympic Charter, such “anti-LGBT” laws and human rights violations are in direct defiance of the "Seven Fundamental Principles of Olympism." Principle Number 6 states: "Any form of discrimination with regard to a country or a person on grounds of race, religion, politics, gender or otherwise is incompatible with belonging to the Olympic Movement." Show that you stand with the LGBT community around the world by signing this petition to ask the Olympic Committee to put pressure on Russia to change these human rights policies.
