CA Governor Jerry Brown Deemphasizes State Tests in Revised School Rating System
For the past decade the performance of California's schools has been measured solely by state standardized test results. Governor Jerry Brown has signed legislation requiring that graduation rates and college-going rates be included along with test scores. His office calls it "one of the most significant education bills of the decade." Supporters hope it will be the end of teaching to the test in schools but critics say it'll reduce school accountability.
