Sometimes we get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that we forget how blessed we truly are.
We live in one of the wealthiest countries in the world. However, many of my neighbors lack even the most basic necessities.
So last weekend, a few friends and myself joined United Way’s initiative to do something. We met together in D.C. to decorate shoeboxes and fill them up with basic needs and emergency preparedness items.
What is the Shoebox Project?
The Shoebox Project is an initiative sponsored by United Way, running from May 1 - June 30, to mobilize community members to provide basic needs and emergency preparedness items to those in need.
What you can do to help?
Donate your own shoebox with some items to help those in need. Even the smallest donation can make a huge impact! If you don’t have time, you can simply visit the United Way’s website to purchase a shoebox from them.
