HUB LOS ANGELES presents artist Moses Hacmon’s photography series “Faces of Water: Family Portraits,” over 50 prints of his innovative new photographic technique that uses new iron nanoparticles to capture the movement of water. Moses Hacmon’s photographic series “Faces of Water” is part art and part science. This haunting collection of over 50 photographic images transforms and advances our understanding of water, exposing a layer of this elementary, life-giving substance previously hidden from sight. By applying a liquid film of iron nanoparticles to water’s surface, Hacmon captures the unique imprint of the water’s movement. The microscopic iron particles are so small they never mix with the water; rather, they absorb into the photographic paper creating a negative of its motion. Hacmon’s process does not rely on visible light; this technique instead captures kinetic energy, water’s pure movement. These resulting images are the “faces” of water.
