Do-It-Ourselves relief work: Organizing in Manhattan's Lower East Side

It's really cool to see how folks are organizing locally, supplementing and filling gaps in the official relief efforts, aided by social media. In this example, all it took was a concerned resident and a post to a local blog to get a pack of people to check up on seniors in the LES who have been without power and water.
