Hillary Clinton Just Posted A Powerful New Video Linking Trump To The KKK

KKK members believe Trump best represents their values

In a video posted to her Twitter account early Thursday morning, Hillary Clinton links Donald Trump to the Ku Klux Klan with members explaining why the Republican presidential nominee best represents their values.

The tweet has since been shared more than 7,500 times with comments ranging from agreement to outrage. In the video, one KKK member says, “the reason a lot of Klan members like Donald Trump is because a lot of what he believes, we believe in.” An audio clip from former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke replays his endorsement of Trump, saying, “Voting against Donald Trump… is really treason to your heritage.” When asked if he would disavow Duke’s endorsement, Trump pivots, doing verbal backflips to avoid answering the question.

Naturally, you might be hesitant to take Clinton’s word for it—she is running against Trump after all. But there are multiple alternative sources that point to Trump’s connection with the white supremacist group. Evan Osnos wrote a report earlier this year for The New Yorker, stressing the fact that Trump’s silence on the issue is as damning as the KKK’s unequivocal support. In March, Vice published an exhaustive report on Trump’s family history with the KKK and the deeply racist policies Donald Trump’s father, Fred Trump, promoted throughout his career.

Whether these revelations cause Trump to drop in the polls is another matter, as Osnos writes, “There may be no better measure of the depravity of this campaign season than the realization that it’s not clear whether Trump’s overt appreciation for fascism, and his sustained salute to American racists, will have a positive or negative effect on his campaign.”
