This Video Of A Drumming Senior Citizen Has Been Seen Nearly 7.5 Million Times

She’s still 11 years younger than Paul McCartney

Back in 1975, Rolling Stones’ lead singer Mick Jagger once famously said, “I’d rather be dead than singing ‘Satisfaction’ at 45.” Now, Jagger is 73 years old and will most likely be singing “Satisfaction” and a slew of other hits next month with his band at the Desert Trip festival in California. The three-day concert dubbed “Oldchella” also features Paul McCartney (74), Bob Dylan (75), and Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters (73). So, when a viral video spread of a 63-year-old woman rocking out on a drum kit, no one should have been too shocked.

Three years ago, minds were blown when footage of rocking drummer Mary Hvizda from Onalaska, Wisconsin, went viral. Now, it’s circulating again for good reason. Although her last band broke up in 1990, that hasn’t stopped her from jamming out at a local music store. “I still kind of like to go to the music store and play a drum set, and then that’s it,” she said. “We wonder, ‘What’s she gonna play this time?’ She’s always got something new up her sleeve,” Dustin Hackworth the Coalition Drum Shop’s manager says. Hvizda may have the look, but don’t call her grandma. “I can’t get used to being called Grandma,” she told WKBT. “I’ve never had children of my own and I never got married, but I am 63 and that is certainly grandma’s age.”
