Event: Join Us for GOOD Design NYC at Urban Design Week

Our next GOOD Design event takes us back to New York City, where five design teams will present their solutions for urban problems at a live event.

Here at GOOD, we love writing about solutions to urban problems. But what we really love is when we can be a part of the solution by bringing together creative problem solvers to tackle large-scale city challenges. Since 2008, we've held GOOD Design events across the country, inviting designers to present creative solutions to urban problems at lively public forums. These events have been held in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and at several design schools across the country. And on September 19, in partnership with CEOs for Cities and the Institute for Urban Design, we're bringing GOOD Design back to New York City for Urban Design Week.

This month's event is held as part of the By the City/For the City Competition, to which hundreds of New Yorkers submitted their ideas for making New York more beautiful, smart, safe, and livable. We paired five of these challenges with five design teams, who are working closely with advisers from the Department of Design and Construction and the Department of Transportation on solutions for the city.

The five design teams include: Deborah Gans and Linnaea Tillett, The Original Champions of Design, Marpillero Pollak Architects, Kate Orff, SCAPE, and Christopher Fahey, Behavior Design

But that's not all. We'll have opening remarks from IfUD director Anne Guiney and Jake Barton of Local Projects, who will speak on the power of civic crowdsourcing platforms like By the City/For the City and Change by Us. Drinks will be provided by Brooklyn Brewery. The event will take place at the recently renovated Jewish heritage center, the Museum at Eldridge Street and will be hosted by GOOD's Alissa Walker.
