Fifteen-year-old girls' education advocate Malala Yousafzai was awarded the Simone de Beauvoir Prize for Women's Freedom in Paris. Her father accepted the award on her behalf, saying of his daughter's attempted murder by the Taliban, "She fell but Pakistan stood up.
