San Francisco has a few new tech startups that allow ordinary people to get paid for giving rides to others -- a peer-to-peer kind of taxi service. Here's a profile of a San Francisco cab driver who prefers driving for one of these P2P ridesharing services instead of for a taxi company, because it's safer, he makes more money, and he has more control.
