From the Nation's Capital

Tonight, at an event with many of the staffers from the campaign, performances by Arcade Fire and Jay-Z book-ended talks by VP Joe Biden (with Jill at his side), Campaign Manager David Plouffe, and President Barack Obama (with Michelle at his side). There were about four thousand people -- most of them in their 20s. The energy matched the occasion.

These last couple days in Washington have been pretty awesome. The style is throw-back and modern, old, young, intelligent, hopeful, fun, serious, global, local. It is Lincoln meets MLK meets the Constitutional Convention meets SxSW meets Google meets Nelson Mandela meets Jay-Z meets Arcade Fire and open ended. I'm grateful to be a citizen in this mix. Our Nation's Capital is alive and full of dignity and hope tonight. Tomorrow morning I fly back to Los Angeles ready to work and full of love.
