Purnima is a 17-year-old girl living in Nepal who aspires to become a nurse. Because she is female, she would typically be more likely to go to work than school. Nepal's government charges tuition starting in sixth grade, but Purnima was able to continue her education because she was selected to be part of Room to Read's Girls Education program. "I am the first getting education in my family" she says. Purnima is about to start two years of post-secondary school and plans to attend college.
