Where Cleveland, OHWhen 10/14/2013
In Cleveland two major movements are afoot; the rise of an active and increasingly visible cycling community and the explosion of local food production. Barrier to entry is fairly low but many people want to get involved now and don't necessarily know where to start.
The Cleveland Bike Composting project seeks to leverage the commitment to sustainability that everyday Cleveland's have been eager to express while understanding the limitations of involvement. By launching a bike-based compost removal service for residents everyday citizens can fuel a bike-based economy and benefit their neighborhood community gardens.
The Cleveland Bike Composting initiative, if successfully funded, will launch a worker-owned compost removal service on a subscription or as needed basis. All food waste that is picked up from subscribers will be dropped off to partnering community gardens for processing to be turned into compost for the benefit of that community garden.
