Homeboy Industries--why I gave to them today...

Just donated to homegirls cafe--checkout http://www.homeboy-industries.org/ for more about this amazing gang intervention program started by Fr. Greg Boyle.  When I first learned about this program, it was driving through the projects with Greg--best friend of my first hubby.  I remember being moved by the teen who stopped to talk with him as we drove by.  Greg had just heard about a job at a local morgue--he asked if it would be too uncomfortable a job for the teen, who said basically, "no way, I'm pretty used to death."  Greg has spent the better part of the last 20 years trying to help kids get out of the gang life by finding productive work. Homeboys Industries was a way to make sure this could happen more often.  He's been amazingly successful, partly because he's not afraid to drive into gang shootouts to try to talk kids down.  He never gives up on his kids. This is an amazing cause.  Give generously.
