Food waste is a big deal. It costs us a lot of money to produce food, and there are a lot of hungry people out there who could use it, rather than let it go to waste. Not only that, but the greenhouse gas emissions associated with food production, particularly in meat production, is tremendous. By my calculations, CO2 emissions from wasted meat in the USA alone is roughly the same as a 747 making 4 round-trips from earth to mars, and then circling the globe 5,000 times. Anyone? Bueller?
