Infographic: How "Evergreening" Restricts Access To Medicines
"Evergreening" is a provision protected in the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement that allows pharma companies to patent small modifications to an existing drug in order to extend it's monopoly, which in turn delays production of generic drugs that people in developing countries can actually afford.
The US and 10 Pacific Rim countries are conducting negotiations on the TPP agreement now. MSF urges the US to withdraw provisions that prevent access to medicines.
