It's Happening: Free Health Care in the Peruvian Amazon Jungle

The Yantaló Peru Foundation—a nonprofit devoted to improving education and health care in the underserved town of Yantaló—is slated to open the country's first green hospital in the Peruvian Amazon Jungle August 2013. Local staff will be on hand year-round with international volunteer residents and professors present on a rotating basis. Patients who can’t pay will receive the same services as those who can. The hospital is expected to serve 2 million people in the surrounding region.
