Lawmakers Introduce Bill to Eliminate Rape Kit Testing Backlog

A bipartisan group of lawmakers in the House and Senate have introduced the Sexual Assault Forensic Evidence Registery (SAFER) Act to ensure the timely processing of the estimated 400,000 rape kits in the United States awaiting testing. Currently some rapists are not prosecuted due to the statute of limitations running out before the rape kits can be tested.
