Let's build.
Renewable energy is abundant. How abundant? According to new research, 400 terawatts of power could be harvested from winds near the earth’s surface, while more than 1,800 terawatts could be generated by tapping the strong, steady winds of the earth’s atmosphere. To put that in perspective: today’s civilization uses about 18 terawatts of power. That means that surface winds alone could provide up to 20 times current global demand.
