Los Angeles Will Convert All 200,000+ Streetlights to LEDs, Saving Energy and Millions of Dollars

It's a simple step, but makes a big difference: by changing regular streetlights to LED bulbs, a project in LA has saved the city more than $5.3 million per year in electricity bills, and more than 40,000 tons of reduced CO2 emissions so far. LED bulbs use 63 percent less energy. The project started in 2009, and now LA has decided to retrofit every single streetlight in the city. Other cities on the West Coast are working on similar projects.
